Reporting to the Manager of CP1 Paediatrics, and Manager of Emergency Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered care environment.

Requirements:

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Life Support certificate
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate (or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificate (or to be obtained within 3 months of hire)
• Breastfeeding certificate (will accept RNAO BPG certificate course. To be obtained within 3 months of hire)
• Successful completion of Nonviolent crisis prevention (CPI) training (or to be completed within 3 months of hire)
• Preferred Critical Care and/or Emergency Certificate from a recognized institution
• Preferred Health assessment course or equivalent experience
• Preferred minimum of (1) year of current Emergency and/or (2) years current Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Preferred current paediatric knowledge and experience related to paediatric disease process and paediatric family-centered care (medical/surgical/mental health)
• Evidence of sound organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
• Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers & other members of the community and public
• Ability to work well independently and exercise sound judgement
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Excellent work performance and attendance
