We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner in the Schulich Heart Centre Primary Responsibility: Cardiology department at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work: Weekday: Days, 8 hrs, as per schedule

Summary of Duties

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice role designed to contribute to the quality of patient care through practice, research and education. The NP promotes wellness and health promotion and provides exemplary quality care through the application of advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge and skills. The NP practices in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision and Values of Sunnybrook and in compliance with the professional standards of nursing practice as defined by the hospital and College of Nurses of Ontario.

The current emphasis of this role is direct patient care, including the daily clinical management of a defined group of cardiology patients and the coordination of interdisciplinary patient care. In addition, the Nurse Practitioner collaborates with the Patient Care Manager, Clinical Educator and Advanced Practice Nurse to enhance nursing practice through the development, implementation and evaluation of best practices. The development of a cross coverage model between cardiology and cardiac surgery NP's is being considered.

Qualifications/Skills
  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Competence;
  • Master's degree with Nurse Practitioner Certification;
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in cardiology preferred;
  • Current B.C.L.S.; A.C.L.S preferred
  • Membership in R.N.A.O.
  • Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner an asset;
  • Program planning and evaluation skills;
  • Demonstrated professional leadership and ability to be innovative and creative;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Expertise in conflict management.
