We currently have a Regular Part-Time (0.4 FTE) opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner in the HIV Out Patient Clinic The Anita Rachlis Clinic at our Bayview Campus.

Weekdays: Days; 8 hours; As per schedule

Summary of Duties:

The Anita Rachlis Clinic is a multidisciplinary HIV Ambulatory clinic that provides care for patients with HIV, as well as management of HIV related co-morbidities. The NP will provide leadership and promote excellence in nursing through the roles of advanced clinical practice, education, research and consultation. The NP integrates knowledge and skill from nursing and medicine in order to assess, diagnose, treat and monitor individuals who have complex care needs( renal, cardiovascular, bone, liver, endocrine and mental health/addiction) in the context of HIV. Counsel patients on preventive health care. Liaise with community services and making referrals as appropriate. Working in collaboration with family doctors, specialists and the HIV team including participating in team and program meetings and quality improvement initiatives. A background in mental health is needed to assess and treat patients with mental health issues.

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Master's Degree and completion of Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or primary Care.
  • RN(EC) license from the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • Clinical practice in community mental health
  • Direct patient care experience in HIV
  • Advanced physical assessment and health assessment skills
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of co-morbidities including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, viral hepatitis and mental health is a plus
  • Superior communication and organizational skills
  • Patient-Focused Care approach with an understanding and appreciation of the HIV population
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Venipuncture, insertion of IV catheters and management of PICC lines
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team building skills
