Shift: 7.5 hour shifts Days Monday - Friday
Summary:
This position reports directly to the Associate VP Acute Care Services .Lateral relationships include the Program Director and Medical Directors. The Clinical Nurse Specialists is an RN leader with a clinical and administrative role specific to their area/department/program. The CNS's role provides advanced clinical care to patients as well as consultative support to nursing staff in maintaining a systems approach for operational issues including efficient use of hospital resources. The CNS works collaboratively with all health care disciplines and supports. As well, the CNS manages identified projects and aspects of the program as required by the Associate VP. In addition the CNS is a participant in the Administrative Hospital call rotation. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Masters prepared achieved
- Five years experience in post surgical or critical care preferred
- Knowledge and expertise in orthopedic postoperative care
- Familiar with advanced multimodal pain practices
- Demonstrated experience in detailed clinical assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of the patient plan of care
- Demonstrated experience working within an interprofessional healthcare team
- Demonstrated experience in the planning and development of the department goals, hospital strategic plan, mission, vision and values
- Demonstrated ability in developing new and expanded programs to meet patient needs
- Ability to develop and plan strategies for best practice
- Ability to develop quality measurement and evaluative tools for monitoring patient outcomes
- Participates in a variety of committees to support nursing excellence
- Promote an environment that fosters clinical excellence
- Facilitate and promote partnerships and linkages both internal and external to the department
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills required to interact with patients, health professionals, other service providers and families essential
- Good attendance record
