Shift: 7.5 hour shifts Days and Evenings, Monday - Friday

Summary:

The Day Surgery Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works in pre and postoperative area, provides direct care for patients of various ages who have undergone a variety of surgical procedures. The RPN will function within the of a Registered Practical Nurse and the College of Nurses Standards of Nursing Practice for Registered Practical Nurses.

Qualifications:
  • Current Registration Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Collaboration and communication skills with patients and health professionals
  • Demonstrated surgical expertise in orthopedic, general, gynecological and pediatric surgery
  • Ability to function effectively in clinical areas with rapid pace and high turnover
  • Ability to adapt to various clinical settings and provide appropriate nursing care to patients whose acuity and degree of illness vary
  • Preference will be given to a Registered Practical Nurse who has successfully completed Registered Practical Nurse Enhanced Skills
  • Upgrade (e.g. Medication Administration, Assessment skills, etc.)
  • Flexibility, reliability and dependability
  • Good attendance record
