Summary:
The oncology nurse will be involved in all aspects of the inpatient oncology program, including patient/family assessment, patient teaching related to chemotherapy administration, supportive and palliative care, and treatment administration (Chemotherapy). As a member of the interdisciplinary team the oncology nurse will participate in the development and implementation of patient treatment plans; quality improvement processes and will support education and research initiatives. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Oncology foundations, chemotherapy and biotherapy, and psychosocial oncology courses from the deSouza Institute preferred
- Chemotherapy administration certification preferred
- Canadian Nurses Association certification as a Certified Oncology Nurse (CONC) or equivalent
- Member of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology
- Minimum 3 years recent experience in oncology nursing preferred
- Demonstrated experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Working with a variety of computer systems and software applications
- Participation in education and clinical training programs
- Good attendance record
- Therapeutic communication techniques
- Knowledge in patient-focused care and the needs of the oncology patient population
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills as well as the ability to work independently
