Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health Claims, the Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for personal injury, WSIB claims management for CRH Canada.

Job Responsibilities (include But Are Not Limited To):

  • Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness
  • Implements care plans with follow-up nursing care and referrals
  • Provides case management of short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims
  • Facilitates early and safe return to work and maintains effective incident injury/illness reporting procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly Work Hour Report including HIP Report, Safety Metrics, Pre-job planning, Project Close out, Medical Aid Report, Safety/Talks, Divisional JHSC minutes and New Worker Orientation information.
  • Assist the Health and Safety manger with Securovision program and invoicing. Assist field on how to obtain safety prescription glasses.
  • Arrange annual first aid training with external training provider. Input training records using viewpoint. Track expiry first aid certificates for hourly and salary staff.
  • Prepare and report on AMAT monthly and annual statistics.
  • Assist Manager of Health and Safety with annual CRH360 reporting at year end.
  • Prepare Key Performance Indicator year end summary for District Managers and Superintendents.
  • Maintain and assure compliance with all health & safety standards, education and required paperwork.
  • Conduct periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, health & wellness, and other related areas.
  • Interprets and promotes compliance with government legislation
  • Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling
  • Participates in occupational health and safety maintenance

Qualifications (include But Are Not Limited To):

  • Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario, BScN preferred
  • Current COHN certificate preferred 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience preferred
  • Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information
  • Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs
  • Ability to do electronic charting, and database entry using Parklane Systems
  • Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a unionized environment an asset.
