Position: Registered Nurse

Department: Hemodialysis - Burlington Dialysis Centre

Status: Permanent Part-time (must provide availability of up to 0.6 FTE)

Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating; 7-3; 7-7; 10:30-22:30; 14:30-22:30; 8 and 12 hour shifts. Some on call responsibilities required. (Hours subject to change based on operational needs).

Site: Multi Site. May be required to work at Joseph Brant Hospital and other Halton Healthcare sites based on operational needs.

This is what you'll be doing:

The successful candidate will be required to provide high-quality nursing care to patients requiring acute and chronic hemodialysis treatments across various clinical settings as well as work on standby as per departmental needs .

Care of chronic hemodialysis patients. Involves patient teaching. Initiation and discontinuation of dialysis, preparation of dialysis machines, accessing venous accesses and central lines, monitoring of dialysis treatments, troubleshooting, primary nursing follow-up of chronic patients. Other duties as required.

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • Preference will be given to those individuals possessing Cneph Certification
  • Must have experience with acute hemodialysis
  • Must be good with equipment and possess basic computer skills
  • Strong patient assessment skills and patient education skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must enjoy working with chronic patients
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills
  • Must possess excellent documentation skills
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

The ideal candidate is strong in patient centred care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.

Salary: $34.24 to $49.02 per hour
