REPORTS TO: Manager, ICU, Telemetry, Stroke and Cardiorespiratory Program
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $29.39 to $31.17 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS Certification
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
- Recent clinical experience (minimum two years) in Cardiac Care and Acute Stroke/Stroke Rehab Nursing
- Recent related courses, in-services in Cardiac Care Nursing and Acute Stroke/Stroke Rehab Nursing
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making
- Excellent critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the inter-professional care team
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
- Ability to engage patient and family partners in patient education promoting vascular health
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information System and personal computer applications
- Excellent physical assessment skills
Required Learning:
- Recent Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia course (current experience)
- Recent 12 lead ECG interpretation course (current experience)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Acute Stroke Unit Orientation Course (eLearning modules)
- Stroke Rehabilitation Unit Orientation (eLearning modules)
- Completion of IV Therapy Initiation and IV Therapy Discontinuation course
Preferred Learning:
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Training
- AlphaFIM and FIM Certification
- Swallowing screening
- Apex Innovations Canadian Hemispheres Stroke Competency Certification
