Job Description
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual to be part of our nursing team! We are a unique home setting dedicated to improving the lives of our medically fragile children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities!

Salary:

· Up to $34 dollars per hour

Location:

· Kitchener, Ontario

Duties:

· Nursing and Personal Care

· Administration of medications

· Liaison with Pharmacy

· Supervision of emotional well-being of child/adult

· Nursing assessment of child/adult and accurate reporting and documentation

· Accompany resident to all required appointments and communicate effectively with medical/health professionals, etc. and relay any new information to Sunbeam Lodge Nursing Supervisor/Residential Coordinator

· Responsible to update all resident's documentation as necessary

· Consultation with: Administration and Nursing Supervisor regarding nursing and medical decisions and communicating effectively with parents; doctors, receiving of and transcribing of new orders

· To read, understand, and adhere to the terms and conditions of your employment contract and the information provided in the Sunbeam Lodge Policies and Procedures Manual

· Ensures that programming is implemented as directed by Charge Nurse/Residential Coordinator

· Participation in the Sunbeam Lodge Vehicle Orientation procedure (at the request of Administration) to ensure that proper training has been conducted

Minimum Requirements:

· Completion of a Diploma or a Degree (BScN) in Nursing from a recognized post secondary institution

· Possession of a current/valid Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario, issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario

· Current CPR

· Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training

· The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, parents, advocates, other organizations and the general public

· Skills and knowledge related to the use of medical devices such as oxygen concentrators, suction machines, ventilators, enteral feeding tubes and pumps

· Knowledge of Controlled Acts - teaching, delegating, assigning and supervising

· Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Other:

· Group Home Setting with 4-6 clients

· Multiple work interruptions; sustained posture in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods of time

· May be required to deal with highly sensitive, unpredictable, and high stress situations and medical emergencies related to the health care of clients

· Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are important aspects of this role

· Attention to detail is a requirement of this position in both documentation and providing care to clients

· Lifting, carrying, handling of clients and equipment, not normally exceeding 25 kg

· 1-1 Nurse working with young clients - for rotation of Days and Nights
