We currently have a Regular Part-time (0.3 FTE) opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse position in the Veteran's Centre at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays & Alternating Weekends: Days; 8 hrs; as per schedule

Statutory Holidays Required

Summary of Duties

RPNs are responsible for the total care of within their scope of practice, including socialization of behaviourally challenged dementia residents in a highly specialized cognitive support unit. The RPN supports the philosophy of Patient-Focused Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RPN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications/Skills
  • Current Ontario College of Nurses Registration
  • Current B.C.L.S
  • Experience in Long Term Care required
  • Patient and Family focused care philosophy required
  • Cognitive support experience required
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention course preferred
  • Ability to work effectively and therapeutically in a setting with residents with senile Dementia Alzheimer's Type
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with primary nursing an asset
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Computer and keyboarding skills
