POSITION SUMMARY:       The Assistant Director of Resident Care is responsible for providing supportive leadership and management of the Nursing Department in collaboration with the Director of Resident Care. All care must be provided in compliance with the legislation and guidelines established by the Ministry of Long Term Care of Ontario (MoLTC), Knollcrest Lodge guidelines, policies, and procedures, and the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).  The Assistant Director of Resident Care is a contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team of Knollcrest Lodge and is responsible in tandem for the overall delivery of health care to the residents of the Long Term Care Home.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Resident Care, CEO/Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN) or Registered Nurse Diploma.

- Current certificate and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

- Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Certification (a-IPC, CIC, etc.) is an asset.

Experience:

- At least two (2) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector;

- At least one (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a managerial role or supervisory capacity in a health care setting is preferred.

Abilities:

- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.

- Demonstrated knowledge of Long Term Care Homes, and the Long Term Care Homes Act and Regulations.

- Labour Relations experience, management, and administration of a unionized environment an asset.

- Advanced computer skills for report writing, data analysis, and basis budgeting (accounting) skills.

- Ability to adapt to changing and emerging care practices and mandates as required.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $96,000 - $106,500 per year, Salaried
  • 5% RRSP
