Hours of works:
The Director of Care will work 30 hours per week or as deemed necessary by the Administrator. The regular hours of work will be from 8 am to 4 pm including an unpaid ½ hour lunch period and two 15 min. paid breaks.
Salary & Benefits:
The salary will be at the discretion of the owner; the benefits, as per the existing in-home benefit package.
The Director of Care is...
- To provide leadership to the Nursing Team.
- To ensure superior Resident care and services.
- To ensure high Resident occupancy levels.
- To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- To ensure effective operation and continuous improvement of the home
- To build the strength of the talent pool in nursing.
- A member of the management team and assist the administrator in decision making.
The Director of Care can rely on the following tools to monitor her performance:
- Regulatory Compliance
- Employee, Resident/Family Satisfaction results
- Budget on Excel Sheet
- Case Mix Indexes (CMI) and (RAI-MDS)
- Clinical Indicators
- Accreditation (CCHSA standards)
- Visit Ministry of Health website regularly
- Disciplines/Grievance status
- Annuals performance appraisal
Accountable for:
- The effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the nursing and care services in accordance with standards, policies and practices in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
-Participating in all activities of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Leadership & Partnerships Committee (i.e. attendance at meetings, completing documentation, conformance with Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation).
- Participating in the development of the annual business plan, operating nursing budget and Continuous Quality Improvement é Risk Management Plan.
- Ensuring that office duties and functions are carried out in a confidential manner in accordance with Sarsfield Colonial Home policies and procedures.
Resident Care and Services:
Accountable for:
- The quality of resident care and services, in accordance with the standards and legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Resident Advocacy.
- Resolving issues related to Resident/family concerns/complaints raised within the home.
- The effective promotion of Residents' and Family Councils; attendance at Residents' and Family Council meetings, upon invitation; addressing suggestions, new initiatives, concerns and/or complaints; providing effective follow-up and resolution on all issues identified by the Councils.
- The coordination of the Infection Control Program.
- The implementation, monitoring, controls of drug administration.
- Ensure confidentiality of resident files and personal information.
- Promotes the Residents' Bill of Rights.
Qualifications
- RN/BScN with continuing education in Gerontology, Nursing Administration, Rehabilitation, Long Term Care, or equivalent.
- A minimum of three year's experience as a team leader, unit coordinator, head nurse or other relevant management position.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to seek out and utilize opportunities to maintain competency and continued learning.
- Current CPR qualifications.
- Skills and leadership abilities in supervising other nursing personnel.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency to be bilingual consistent with the Resident population would be considered an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From $75,000.00 per year
