Occupational Health Nurse

Role Summary
A Division of Magna, Polycon Industries is a World Class supplier of automotive parts. Polycon moulds, paints, assembles and sequences automotive products to OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
Key Responsibilities
- COVID-19 responsibilities based on pandemic status include: screening, return to work clearance, collaborating with testing trainer nurses & public health
- Manages all aspects of WSIB administration including documentation and accurate and timely submission of claims
- Coordinates Return to Work assessments and monitoring of employees returning from disability and WSIB
- Works with department leads to ensure proper placement of employees in suitable, safe, and value-add roles
- Provides health and safety services to promote overall employee well-being and assist in the prevention of illness or injury
- Develops and delivers health, safety and wellness related training including health education and promotion programs
- Manages hearing program
- Performs vision screening, audiometry screening and respirator fit testing as required
- Conducts pulmonary function testing and manages Isocyanate program
- Ensures baseline health assessments are complete for all new hires
- Supports wellness initiatives including managing fitness room
- Promotes and acts as liaison with the Employee and Family Assistance Program
- Ensures AODA compliance requirements are met
- Responsible for monthly KPIs, employee meeting slides, team leader communications
- Performs first aid as required as well as participation in investigations and continuous improvement initiatives including development and review of applicable policies and procedures
- Responsible for ordering supplies and ensuring First Aid Room stocked
- Works closely with the Health, Safety and Environmental team to provide input and support of program
- Active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Maintain confidential health files (knowledge of PHIPA & PIPEDA)
- Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses (or willing to obtain certification)
- One - two years of experience as an Occupational Health Nurse
- Strong knowledge and experience with Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) and disability claims management
- Experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations
- Proven experience managing Return to Work Program
- Spirometry & Audiometry Trained
- Certified in First Aid/CPR
- Certified in respirator fit testing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required (spoken and written)
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional and confidential manner
- Ability to work independently and respond to multiple changing demands and deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills, proven accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong computer literacy required: MS Office; Excel/Word/Power Point/Outlook
