In alignment with the Mission, Vision and Values of RVH, the Operations Director supports the role of the Executive Vice President Patient & Family Experience & Regional Vice President – Cancer Care Ontario, while working in collaboration with Department Chiefs, Medical Directors, their Managers, and other team members to ensure safety is our promise in patient care by setting directions through planning, resource deployment, coordinating, and evaluating services in accordance with the corporate mission, vision, and strategic directions. The role is responsible for:

  • Providing leadership, direction, management, and administration of operations to ensure accomplishment of objectives
  • Strategic decision making with the ability to train and mentor others to achieve program targets and goals
  • Effective management of all financial and human resources within the program and for quality and risk management program reporting
  • Development and implementation of the annual operating plan that is based upon the organization's strategic plan
  • Providing visionary leadership to ensure the development and implementation of clinical programs and to achieve excellence in systems, structures and processes that support the provision of efficient and patient-centred care, including clinical excellence in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment
  • Leading and manage multiple teams and projects in operations, service delivery, policy development and ensuring accurate modeling and forecasting
  • Overseeing the efficient flow of patients within the service / program and across the organization

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in a health care clinical discipline (e.g., nursing, medicine, or pharmacy), management, or a closely related field; or bachelor’s degree in a related field and equivalent years of experience
  • Regulated Health Professional or Professional Designation preferred

Experience:

  • Five plus years’ experience in a progressive leadership role
  • At least five years of experience in health care, administration or a related field
  • Experience with implementing key initiatives in a complex environment
  • Agent of change with ability to envision new concepts, methods and plans, with the ability to energize, coach, encourage and support
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills that fosters an environment of encouragement, teamwork and participation by all members of a multidisciplinary team to achieve quality of care
  • Experience in effective collaborative relationships with external groups associated with the department, both regionally and provincially
  • Proficient in a wide variety of software applications (e.g., office automation, general ledger enquiries, Microsoft Office suite, and clinical applications)
  • Proven financial and analytical skills, including budget development, grant and contract management
  • Thorough knowledge of complex project management processes, tools, techniques and methodologies to lead large scale efforts

  • Possess the skills to apply existing tools directly related to quality improvement, accreditation, risk management, patient safety, project management and change management
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, consensus building, conflict resolution and participative / consultative style of leadership
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and independently
  • Excellent communications skills and political savvy with discretion to address difficult or sensitive issues
  • Comfortable speaking to individuals and presenting to large groups
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential issues with a high level of personal integrity and ethics
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
