Registered Nurse, Paediatric ICU

Starship Child Health has the only Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in New Zealand, providing inpatient, outpatient, trauma, emergency, and urgent care to children and their whānau.  


It is a busy 22 bedded high functioning unit that:  

  • Covers all clinical specialties(except burns)

  • Provides both cardiac and general ICU care

  • Provides ECMO, CVVH, HFOV

  • Responsible for flight retrieval for patients nationally and across the South Pacific Islands

  • Is the centre of excellence for all PICU based research

Apart from the fantastic clinical opportunities available, we will also provide:

  • One way flight to New Zealand, and pay your nursing council registration 

  • Meet and greet service at the airport

  • 2 weeks free accommodation upon arrival

  • Return flight home  - not that you’ll want to leave once you join our great team

Experience within a PICU or adult ICU would be optimal, however we are also keen to talk with experienced paediatric nurses interested in working in a PICU environment.

We work 10 / 12 hour shifts every 3 weeks, with self-rostering you will have plenty of opportunity to see our beautiful country.  Our contract terms are flexible, we are happy to discuss all the options available to you.
