Director of Nursing

<p>Position Summary: The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible to the Senior Director of Care in overseeing all aspects of the Nursing Department by ensuring that the quality of resident care exceeds standards required to maintain excellence in resident service and safety. &nbsp;This position manages and supports nursing staff to consistently achieve care goals and objectives, coordinates timely and appropriate care interventions and manages human and physical resources effectively, efficiently, within budget allocations and regulatory requirements.&nbsp; The DON provides leadership to the staff teams, fosters a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and cooperation and encourages innovation and best practice approaches to care.</p> <p>Employment Guide:&nbsp; Must be a Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, and be a member in good standing.&nbsp; A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.&nbsp; Must have a minimum of three years&rsquo; experience working in a Long Term Care facility in a leadership capacity, and&nbsp;possess working knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Act; Occupational Health and Safety Act and ESA legislation.&nbsp; Demonstrates a proven ability to coach and train with an understanding of adult learning principles an asset.&nbsp; Must possess exceptional leadership abilities and demonstrate a passion for engaging employees and promoting a supportive and productive work culture.&nbsp; Experience operating within a unionized environment and knowledge of the collective bargaining process preferred.&nbsp; Effective problem-solving skills; prioritization and organizational skills; written and oral communication skills; and advanced computer skills are essential.&nbsp; Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of individuals including residents, families, employees, community partners required. A valid driver&#39;s license is required as well as successful completion of a Police Check, Vulnerable Screening Check and medical.</p>
