SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Director, Office of Experiential Learning, the Placement Officer is a proactive team member in the Office of Experiential Learning (OEL). The Placement Officer – Nursing Cluster and Allied Health is responsible for the acquisition and confirmation of up to 3000 placements for Nursing and Allied Health students in the Nursing cluster and Allied Health programs.  The incumbent matches student preferences for placement and curriculum requirements through the site selector function of HSP Net.  The incumbent also insures via the most responsible person for the Affiliation Agreement Registry that contractual agreements and liability insurance between the college and agencies are in place. The successful applicant will liaise with 140-150 agencies as well as OEL staff, the Program Coordinators, faculty, and students internally. Using HSP net the incumbent maintains a database of student placements in hospital settings. The incumbent will participate in the clinical/field placement clearance process as needed to ensure that School of Health Science Nursing cluster and Allied Health students have met all of the required pre-requisites for placement. Additionally the Placement Officer will participate in educating students about field/clinical placement opportunities and the medical and non-medical requirements of placement.  The Placement Officer will also participate in the transmission of data files as required for data base creation and maintenance.

 

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess at a minimum a 4 year degree or equivalent, preferably in Business with Health Management experience. A member in good standing from a regulated health profession is preferred. In addition, a minimum of three (3) years of experience with business and/or health management that translates into an understanding of clinical requirements for health programs, data analytics and information management is required.  Experience working with adults in a post-secondary environment and health care environment is preferred. Project management experience and fluency with database operations and experience interacting with potential partners and marketing and profiling the benefits of what students have to offer an agency is also required. Other qualifications include: excellent teamwork, problem solving, written/verbal communication and human relation skills as well as demonstrated skill and knowledge to deal with all aspects of diversity in a post-secondary environment.
