Director, Clinical Services and Education

Steeves and Rozema Nursing Homes Ltd is currently hiring for the position of Director, Clinical Services and Education for the Head Office, located in Sarnia, Ontario.


  • A Registered Nurse with current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario -  BScN preferred
  • RN education in gerontology or 3 years relevant experience in working with persons in Long Term Care
  • RN education in adult training or a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in adult education
  • Computer skills with efficiency in Windows software environment
  • Knowledge of RNAO Best Practice guidelines and MOH Regulations and Act & other relevant legislation
  • Policy development experience required
  • Knowledge of risk and quality management
  • Clear understanding of how residents direct their care in long term care
  • Consulting/Advisor and relationship management skills essential
  • Flexible in changing of priorities as the environment dictates

Responsibilities for the Director, Clinical Services:

The overall responsibility for this position is to support the Nursing departments at S&R LTC homes to ensure that the care we provide to our residents reflects best practices in Long Term Care and supports resident’s “Quality of Life.”

  • Ensure our homes meet and/or exceed the standards for care as required by the Ministry of Health Long Term Care and College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Act as a resource to the Managers of Resident Care (DOC) by facilitating in-person meetings as required and using monthly conference calls as needed
  • Coordinate the review of the Nursing Policy Manual: the Infection Control Manual and acts as a resource on the Food Service, Life Enrichment and Environmental Services Policy Manual
  • Stay current with best practices information to support the LTC homes with the implementation of innovative and evidence based changes to improve resident care and services
  • Identify and assess educational needs of homes collectively by consulting with MRC’s and committees, soliciting team members input. Maintaining education priorities for homes
  • Develop and deliver education ongoing for homes collectively and/or individually
  • Promotes an awareness of Long Term Care direction, professional standards, policies, procedures, quality and risk management programs with the LTC homes
