Unit Manager-Continuing Care Program-Rehabilitation/Stroke Unit and Rehabilitation Therapies Team

Reporting to the Program Director, CCP, you will be accountable to facilitate clinical excellence, leadership, and management leading to the delivery of a patient and family-centered patient care program. Your experience will assist you to ensure compassionate, personal and thoughtful service to staff and patients. You have demonstrated competence in staff coordination, development and support skills, such as scheduling and performance management.  You are a true leader, demonstrating creativity, innovation, flexibility and professional knowledge suitable to an interdisciplinary environment. You are comfortable with rapid change, high pressure and ambiguity. Working collaboratively with community providers, you will engage in key activities to promote community partnerships. Using your superior communication skills, you will promote and maintain positive public relations with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, internal partners and volunteers.

Your qualifications include:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or appropriate regulatory body
  • Bachelor of Science in health related field. Masters preferred
  • Proof of current BCLS
  • 3 years experience in related CCP field of palliative, rehab, geriatrics or complex care
  • 3 years management experience in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning
  • Demonstrated effective team building, interpersonal, conflict management/resolution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills including project management
  • Demonstrated skills in budgeting and human resources planning
  • Current membership in professional organizations such as RNAO or other appropriate professional organizations
  • Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the jobs, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
  • Must meet expectations for appropriate, respectful and professional conduct, as set out in the RMH Code of Conduct

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Program Director, CCP
  • Assesses, plans, organizes, supervises patient care and activities according to established multiprofessional standards of practice
  • Ensures patient care is well managed based on the needs of the patient, competency of the staff and appropriate use of resources
  • Responsible for the day to day operational issues of the program.
