Salary: $33.23 - $47.57 per hour (ONA)

This is for:

  • One permanent part time position working up to 15 hours per week (2300-0700, nights) including every other weekend. Resident home area(s) as assigned.
  • One permanent full time position working up to 37.5 hours per week (2300-0700, nights) including every other weekend. Resident home area(s) as assigned.

Preferred Background:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is an asset. The successful incumbent must also possess the following attributes; strong leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills, be able to prioritize and manage multiple demands, be a team player as well as work independently. Strong and effective oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate appropriately with residents, staff, professionals, visitors and volunteers with an exemplary customer service focus. Previous experience in caring for the elderly population, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing is preferred. Basic computer proficiency is required and experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook & Point Click Care (PCC) is preferred.


You will be responsible for applying professional knowledge and competent practice in the provision of quality, resident-centered care based on the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act & Regulations, The Health and Safety Act, Resident Bill of Rights, Services for Seniors’ Policies, Procedures, Mission, Vision, and Values and best practice guidelines.

Employment Conditions:

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment. You will also need to provide a current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six (6) months) by the first day of employment.

In support of the Region’s commitment to a healthy and safe workplace and community, the Region has a vaccination requirement for all employees.

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all of the required doses of a World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccine and having received the final dose at least 14 days before your employment start date.

The candidate will be asked to provide the Region with proof of full vaccination, prior to their employment start date. Acceptable proof includes an Ontario Ministry of Health COVID-19 vaccine receipt which you can obtain through the Provincial portal other government-issued vaccine passport or certification.

Where the successful candidate has not been fully vaccinated, a documented medical reason provided by a physician or Nurse Practitioner and time period for the medical reason may be accepted consistent with Halton’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.


Working Conditions:

Flexibility to work outside of core business hours including, weekends and holidays is required. The successful candidates must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the care and assistance of residents.



  • Oversees the Resident Home Area (RHA), provides direction, leadership and support to the Registered Practical Nurse and nursing team on issues related to resident care and home area operations.
  • Assesses resident’s health status and delivers nursing care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, in accordance with the College of Nurses’ Standards of Practice, the Residents’ Plan of Care, Services for Seniors Policies and Procedures, Best Practice Guidelines, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Act and Regulations, and all other applicable legislation.
  • Responsible for the administration and documentation of medication and treatments as prescribed by the physician/ Nurse Practitioner and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario‘s Standards of Practice
  • Documents all care and services provided in the residents’ electronic health record Point Click Care (PCC)
  • Completes an individualized plan of care for each resident. Assesses resident’s health status on an ongoing basis and institutes appropriate care measures.
  • Administers medication, as well as medications not approved for the RPN. Responsible for the security of drugs and narcotics according to applicable policies and legislation.
  • Performs administrative duties such, as scheduling and may be required to act as the Charge Nurse in absence of management staff.
  • Communicates effectively with residents, staff, families, physicians and team members.
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times. Provides individualized service and creates a “homelike” atmosphere.
  • Acts as a resident advocate; communicates information about client /resident needs to internal and external agencies, staff, volunteers, families and students.
  • Assists in the orientation of new staff, students and volunteers, makes recommendation and participates in changes to nursing practice, policies and procedures, as the need arises
  • Responds to and participates in emergency situations, codes and emergency preparedness exercise as required and maintains a safe working environment by adhering to proper procedures.
  • Supports and promotes the “CARE” philosophy and Model of Care.
  • Performs all other delegated duties as assigned under the direction of the Manager of Resident Care and the Director of Nursing and Personal Care
