Position Description:

Building on strong clinical services, Geriatric, Adult Neurodevelopment and Social Support Services is focused on our mission to improve care for older people with mental illnesses in Ontario.  We work in partnership with scientific, clinical and administrative staff at CAMH, and with locally, nationally and internally recognized neuroscientists and clinical scientists to study way to improve interventions for older people will illnesses such as major depression, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia or dementia (Alzheimer’s disease).

Reporting to the Vice President Clinical Care and Chief Nurse Executive, the Clinical Director will provide strong contemporary leadership to all health care professionals and administrative staff who report in to the program. The Clinical Director is responsible for advancing the concepts, infrastructures and relationships required for a programmatic focus. They will achieve this by collaborating with all stakeholders in the development and articulation of a future-oriented vision for the program and by effectively directing the activities of all of the component units of the program to achieve the stated vision. The Clinical Director is accountable for developing and implementing strategies, which will ensure the delivery of high quality patient care, health science education and research, and the cost-effective management of all financial, clinical, and human resources within the program. The Clinical Director also participates actively as a member of the hospital leadership in the development and implementation of broad corporate goals and objectives and the development of strategies to achieve them. Key accountabilities for this role will include Planning and Operations Management, Human Resources Management, Professional Practice and Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Community Relations, Corporate Contribution and Financial Accountability. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Director may be located at the Queen Street and/or College Street sites.

Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree is required in a Clinical, Healthcare or Social Services discipline from a recognized institution. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. Registration in good standing with the respective College as a Regulated Healthcare Professional. 

Five (5) years of progressive clinical managerial experience and five (5) years clinical experience in addictions, mental health and/or concurrent disorders treatment is required. You have demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate on programming and programming delivery and extensive healthcare experience, with a strong focus on implementation of leading/best practices. You will also possess strong negotiation and communication skills, combined with an awareness of professional roles and functions of diverse disciplines within integrated clinical teams, and can effectively liaise with external programs and agencies.

You demonstrate commitment to safety of both staff and clients. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and communities is essential. You have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). In addition, you possess excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please Note:     This full-time, permanent position is NOT part of any Bargaining Unit.
