St. Clair College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. As faculty in the School of Nursing, you will teach in our BScN, Practical Nursing, Personal Support Worker or Pre-Health programs; work in partnership with our academic team to develop and revise curriculum; participate in ongoing quality initiatives; and, engage in research to support our growing and innovative research environment. We are seeking applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching and have a strong interest in scholarly and research activities.
The responsibilities of St. Clair College Professors include, but are not limited to:
Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
Developing curriculum that connects learning outcomes with appropriate student assessment techniques;
Ensuring course and program curriculum is current and relevant to today’s professional practice standards;
Utilizing knowledge of best practice in adult education in creating an engaging teaching and learning environment through tailoring effective teaching and learning strategies
Effectively using educational technologies to support learning and communicate efficiently;
Engaging in the scholarship of teaching and learning, including an active research profile and pursuit of funding;
Participating in professional development activities and collaborating with colleagues, other Colleges/Universities; and community partners to maintain professional competency in support of the learning environment;
Contributing to course and program development through ongoing participation on respective committees;
Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:
Hold a current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario and be in good standing with no restrictions.
Hold a PhD/Doctorate Degree in Nursing or a closely related discipline or be in process of completing a PhD/ Doctorate Degree – applicants must have an MN or MScN.
Evidence of recent scholarly activity, such as research projects, publications, and conference presentations
Have five (5) years of recent and relevant nursing experience;
Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated application of adult educational principles and teaching/assessment methodologies would be considered an asset;
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and proven approach to life-long learning;
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Superior interpersonal skills with demonstrated strong oral, written, and electronic communication abilities;
Strong computer skills;
Current CPR, clear Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance and good physical health to teach in the clinical setting;
Self-motivated and independent who also functions well in a team environment;
Commitment to diversity and equity to interact effectively with the College’s diverse student and staff population;
Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
*Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide a 10-minute teaching demonstration. Details will be provided when interviews are scheduled.
