Good Shepherd is seeking experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse interested in providing excellence in care in both a community setting and Hospice.
The Good Shepherd Transition Beds program provides brief-stay residential care to marginalized individuals being discharged from hospital who require ongoing medical care and case management services to support optimal recovery and re-integration into the community. We are seeking healthcare professionals interested in working in a dynamic community setting responding to the needs of people impacted by poverty, homelessness, mental health issues and substance use. The Nurses will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that will facilitate improved health status and timely, effective discharge to community for service users.
The Good Shepherd Emmanuel House provides 24-hour care for people with a life limiting illnesses and require comfort and support for themselves and their loved ones. The successful candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a hospice/palliative care setting. In addition, the Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and problem solve complex clinical situations and psycho-social circumstances in providing or managing care of palliative residences.
Successful candidate will have demonstrated interest and competence in clinical nursing practice related to the care of marginalized individuals and/or experience in a hospice/palliative Care setting. A commitment to delivering person-centred care within anti-oppressive and harm reduction frameworks is essential. Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset.
These position involves shift work.
Candidates must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
