The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University is pleased to invite applications from qualified candidates for a 3-year Limited Term Appointment at the Assistant Professor level commencing July 1, 2021, with a focus on Indigenous Nursing.

This is an opportunity to join a growing School of Nursing in a university that focuses on quality undergraduate teaching and research while looking to establish a graduate program for nurses. The School has a strong reputation for being student-centered and providing students with rich practice-based learning opportunities. Nipissing University is in the City of North Bay, Ontario (population 55,000), between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake and surrounded by pristine Canadian Shield forest. A comfortable three-hour drive from Toronto and three and a half hours from Ottawa, this growing city has a vibrant arts community, ample amenities, and countless opportunities for outdoor activities. Faculty members at Nipissing enjoy a lifestyle conducive to study and thoughtful research.

Preference will be given to Indigenous scholars in Nursing who possess or are working towards a PhD (or equivalent experience), have a strong academic background, which includes expertise in Indigenous health, research, and pedagogy. One graduate degree must be in nursing and the candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario or be eligible for licensure. The successful candidate should ideally have recent clinical, research, and/or teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas – Indigenous Nursing, particularly within Northern Ontario; Maternal/Child, Community/Family Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be effective July 1 2021, subject to final budgetary approval.
