We are seeking Immunizers to join our Region of Peel Team and continue to make impactful differences within the Region of Peel’s community and people’s lives!
What you will do:
- Administer the COVID-19 vaccine to residents of any age
- Administer and records vaccines, including medications and treatments in accordance with the program medical directive, program procedures, work instructions, and the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Standards of Practice.
- Documents vaccines and treatments in relevant databases according to program practices
- Assesses health and immunization history and eligibility of clients using information from several sources to determine whether the client is to be immunized
- Assist with the management of clients and clinic flow to ensure efficient and effective care in a confidential atmosphere
- Monitor clients for adverse reactions and provide care as required in the clinic environment
- Work along side a team to maintain the vaccine cold chain and assist with the maintenance of vaccines during immunization clinics
- Prepare clinic facilities and equipment
- Depending on the progress of the COVID-19 outbreak, you may be re-deployed to other roles within Peel Public Health programs
What we require:

A regulated healthcare professional with an educational background recognized by a Canadian Educational Institution; has current license to practice in Ontario.
- Currently licensed to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing in considered an asset
- Knowledge of injection process via intramuscular or subcutaneous routes and experience providing intramuscular, subcutaneous injections, and/or vaccines to clients of all ages including infants, toddlers, children, youth, adults and seniors.
- Current CPR certification, Level C or higher
- Ability to assess immunization history and eligibility of clients independently
- Experience conducting client assessments, health teaching and counselling.
- Excellent clinical and organizational skills
- Proficient communication skills (both verbal and written, phone); ability to write in a concise, factual and accurate manner
- Organizational, problem solving, and administrative skills including care essential

Relevant computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Ability to work in a complex environment and possess quick decision-making skills
