Responsibilities:
- Creates and provides regular reports to the Director of Care and key internal/external stakeholders regarding the IPAC surveillance;
- Oversees and administrates daily maintenance of database activities including, ARO Surveillance and Hand Hygiene databases; ARO Surveillance, Hand Hygiene, COVID-19 resident and staff surveillance, respiratory/enteric resident and staff surveillance;
- Primary communicator with external partners related to IPAC including but not limited to; Ottawa Public Health, Ministry of LTC, Ministry of Labor;
- Maintains current vaccines for all residents; ensure the homes are in compliance with the infection control guidelines mandated by the Long-Term Care Homes Act. Leads the annual vaccination campaign
- Supports the internal and external reporting regarding infection prevention and control and communicable diseases;
- Accountable for and acts as the key resource person provide coordination, organization, data collection, and support for the hand hygiene program;
- Plans the design, development, and implementation of IPAC projects and initiatives; and ongoing evaluation of IPAC projects and initiatives;
Qualifications: - Certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario or a Baccalaureate degree in a health care related field or equivalent combination of education and proven expertise in infection prevention and control with leadership skills is essential
- Infection Prevention and Control course completed or willingness to do so preferred
- Minimum 3 years in the LTC sector required
- Previous teaching and/or supervisory experience
- Ability to analyze research and implement evident-based practice into Policy and Procedure development in both clinical and non-clinical practices;
- Communicates effectively using timely, appropriate written, verbal and non-verbal means;
- Utilizes effective listening skills to maximize understanding of issues;
- Proven ability to work within a computerized environment;
- Possesses highly developed analytical, problem solving, critical thinking skills;
