The Community Health Nurse will deliver comprehensive community health nursing in an isolated Indigenous community, in collaboration with other health care professionals. Nursing station is predominately nursing led through consultation, clinical practice, leadership, knowledge and by facilitating health promotion and disease prevention.

The CHN is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection, utilizes a primary health care approach to address overall health needs to Indigenous communities. As a CHN your typical day will impact in assessment and diagnostics, supportive and curative care, trauma care, behavioural health care assessment and management, health promotion, disease prevention, demonstrating integrity and respecting cultural diversity.

Applicants must be dependable, able to work independently and with others, show initiative and be action-orientated, show adaptability and critical thinking skills, and excellent communication both oral & written. The incumbent requires current registration in good standing with the CNO and RNAO. Experience with Remote Northern Nursing, Primary Care and Acute, Urgent or Emergency Care, Public Health and Community Care are an asset.

Mandatory up to date ACLS, PALS, ITLS/TNCC is required.

Recommended: ALARM. clinical skills in well woman, prenatal care and immunizations. Security clearance/background check. Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours and on W/E's and willingness to complete mandatory education/training relevant to position.
