S&R Nursing Homes Ltd. is currently recruiting a passionate and knowledgeable Registered Nurse to the Director of Care position at their Long Term Care Home in Cambridge, ON.
Qualifications:
- Experience in geriatric nursing or post-RN education in Gerontology
- Preference will be given to a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree with relevant experience
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Knowledge of RNAO Best Practice guidelines and MOH Regulations/Legislations and Act
- Clear understanding of Resident-Centered Care
- Experience in management required - Minimum 5 years
- Extensive knowledge of risk and quality management
- Innovative, creative, flexible and enthusiastic
- Exhibited Leadership ability/skills by setting a positive example, being visible, involved, accessible, and assisting staff with their professional growth.
- Dedicated to meeting and exceeding the needs of the home
- Encourages and maintains a culture that values Team Member experiences through effective training, supervision, coaching and performance management
- Proven track record in Positive Employee Relations as well as effective communication skills
Responsibilities:

- Recruits, develops, motivates, recognizes and holds the Nursing Team accountable to meet established objectives and needs of our residents
- Clearly demonstrates collaborative consensus-building skills
- Experienced in directing, managing, coaching and mentoring staff to motivate and bring about efficiency and creativity
- Supports and practices CQI
- Advocates for Residents’ Rights
- Assists and facilitates the Resident Care Team to:
- Develop philosophy and purpose of nursing services
- Set goals and objectives for nursing department
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
- Sets standards and accountability to ensure quality resident care
- Develops/reviews staffing patterns to meet resident’s needs
- Ensures communication processes within department and Home is effective
- Supports and assists in coordinating orientation of staff and staff education
- Coordinates services with internal/external care partners
- Is current with new and developing trends in nursing
- Works effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member and leads by values driven example
- Efficiently manages the financial nursing budget and funded envelope
