Temporary Full-Time

September 2020 to June 2021

The Porcupine Health Unit is looking at strengthening its public health response to COVID-19. The additional nurses for the 2020-2021 school year will join an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement public health programs that meet the board of health requirements under the Ontario Public Health Standards as well as support the PHU’s COVID-19 response.


  • Recognized Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing degree (Registered Nurses without a degree and Registered Practical Nurses may be considered on a part-time or full-time bases);
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse;
  • Previous public health or community nursing experience considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to embrace diversity and build the needs of others into plans;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work both independently and collaboratively with internal or external teams;
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset and will be required for some positions;
  • Provide a satisfactory criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening;
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle;
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel within, and outside the Porcupine Health Unit catchment area is required.
