Coordinates the department’s medical and psychiatric services and participates as a therapist in the assessment, design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions and programs. Supports the sustainability of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
A degree or diploma in nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario. A working knowledge of adolescent psychology; successful experience with adolescents in a mental health or psychiatric setting and experience in small group therapy. Ability to communicate openly and honestly with youth, staff and supervisor; to relate to youth with warmth and understanding; to respond in medical emergency situations and to design and implement therapeutic groups. Commitment to helping youth within the context of a residential program and be a resource to multidisciplinary treatment teams. A sound understanding of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Encouraged to maintain membership within their professional association.
