Job Description

The Nursing Manager is responsible for the overall functioning of the Nursing Department. The Nursing Manager is responsible for providing clinical oversight, and is accountable for the delivery of care and service to clients while ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards of practice.

The responsabilities of the Nurse Manager position can include:

  • Case Management of all nursing clients including ongoing monitoring and evaluation of clients and their services
  • Provides on call support to clients and field staff
  • Supervise routine scheduling of nursing staff/clients
  • Oversees referral process from the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), consumer, insurance companies or other funders ensuring proper staffing and case management is delivered to clients
  • Provide counseling and advocacy to clients and families
  • Resolve issues and incidents with clients, CCAC and insurance companies in a timely manner
  • Monitors and evaluates all nursing care by completing home visits and attending case conferences with the health care team as required
  • Delivers annual performance appraisals of all nurses in the community
  • Assist and support Nursing Client Care Coordinator as required
  • Facilitate monthly Nursing Department Meetings
  • Identify need for recruitment and maintain regular communication with Human Resources regarding departments staffing needs
  • Interviews and selects nurses to meet ongoing staffing requirements, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department
  • Conducts and develops nursing orientation sessions for new hires and yearly refresher orientation
  • Ensures chart audits of nursing files are completed on a quarterly basis and meet the requirements set forth by CQI
  • Collaborates with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimum client care
  • Contributes to the development of the organization’s strategic plan
  • Organizes and supervises flu clinics
  • The Nursing Manager will be aware of and adhere to all policy and procedures as set forth in the Policy and Procedure Manual of RNS Health Care Services
  • The Nursing Manager will be aware of, promote, and follow the Mission Statement of RNS Health Care Services Inc.
  • Represents RNS Health Care Services Inc. (RNS) at community events, meetings and case conferences
  • Promotes RNS through the use of promotional materials and liaising with the public and health care practitioners in a professional manner
  • Maintain Professional Standards as directed by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned


Completion of Bachelor`s degree in Registered Nursing

  • Good standing and registration with CNO
  • Extensive knowledge and experience providing nursing care to medically complex clients
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Computer knowledge of MS Office, Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to complete appropriate documentation independently and professionally
  • Have strong organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse health care environment
  • Commitment to providing the highest level of customer service and client care
  • Service requirements include:
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Proof of Auto Insurance
  • N95 Mask Fit Test
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Chest X-ray or Mantoux Test (within the past two (2) years)
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Screening (within the past three (3) years)
