Job Description

We are hiring a Vice-President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer for the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph and are looking for you. What the job entails:

The Vice-President, Patient Care & Chief Nursing Officer, is a key member of the Homewood Health Centre senior management team and has corporate responsibility for setting and achieving the long and short term operational, clinical, financial, quality, and utilization/effectiveness goals for their portfolio. Working with Homewood leadership, the incumbent will guide and support the strategic direction and goals of Homewood Health Centre.  The Vice President, Patient Care Services provides leadership and oversight to Homewood’s patient care services and serves in the Chief Nursing Officer role. This executive role has authority, responsibility and accountability for patient and nursing services within the organization. This incumbent participates with the governing body, medical staff, and administrative and clinical leaders in the decision-making structures and processes of Homewood Health Centre, representing the clinical perspective.  Through collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and others, this individual reviews, analyzes and recommends changes in practice to work toward the overall strategic initiatives of Homewood Health Centre.  Through coordination and direction of the nursing function, this individual ensures consistent standards of care and best practice across the organization.

What we are looking for:

  • 8- 10 years of progressive management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of front line nursing experience.
  • B.ScN. with a Master’s in a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in addictions medicine and mental health.
  • Experience in strategic planning and development, supervising, budgeting and writing reports.
  • Driven to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead teams of varying size and levels of aptitude.
  • In-depth knowledge of working within collective agreements and labour relations.
  • Collaborative work style, flexible, and has a high degree of organization
  • Able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Strong work ethic and dedication.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Member in good standing in the RNAO  and CNO
