Position Description and Candidate Profile
As the Manager of the Medicine of Surgery, OR and Obstetrics the incumbent uses clinical knowledge and leadership to promote quality patient focused care. Works with the clinical Chiefs and staff to define and ensure appropriate patient outcomes are achieved through an interdisciplinary approach.
The Manager provides leadership and direction for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of patient care services in collaboration with the Physician Chiefs of Service and has overall accountability for the provision of expert and compassionate care consistent with the strategic plan, values and mission of Georgian Bay General Hospital.
The position inspires teams, drives strategic directions and creates energy and enthusiasm for progressive change; acts as an advocate for the very best clinical practice while establishing a vision which contributes to the standards of
excellence in patient care.
Provides leadership in Patient Care Delivery System by:
Using clinical knowledge and leadership to promote high quality, patient-focused care
Establishing the scope and direction of patient services consistent with the GBGH strategic plan and LHIN priorities
Ensuring continued development of system and processes improvements
Balancing available resources to ensure an overall positive experience for our patients
Monitoring and maintaining acceptable standards of professional practice within the portfolio
Ensures proper resource management by:
Selecting effective candidates for patient care programs and serving as a mentor and role model
Serving as an advocate for safe, quality care for patients and high performance standards from staff
Overseeing and coordinating the development of clear financial plans for service - financial, human resources, supplies, and equipment
Analyzing financial outcomes and intervening to effect change when necessary reviewing indicators for quality, effectiveness and efficiency of service
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nursing, a current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses and a minimum of five (5) years progressive clinical management experience in a hospital setting.
