Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, proactive individual with leadership qualities to support excellence in clinical practice within the Children and Childbirth Program with a focus on the education and clinical practice needs of the NICU/Paediatric areas while contributing to a strong organization-wide professional practice environment. Key areas of responsibility are clinical education, orientation and practice leadership.  At the service/unit level this includes activities such as the planning, implementation and evaluation of orientation/cross training, continuing education programs, practice change initiatives, policy and procedure development, as well as providing consultation regarding research based practice standards and professional development.



  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • Membership with the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario preferred
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in NICU and/or Pediatrics required. Experience in both areas is preferred
  • Evidence of leadership in clinical practice
  • Expertise in the delivery of formal and informal education/coaching
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching strategies
  • Expertise in planning/implementing and evaluating practice changes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, practice standards, and best practice guidelines
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and interprofessional collaborative practice, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proven abilities in complex analysis, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Proven evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Computer proficiency, preferably in MS office and Meditech EMR
  • Completion of NRP, PALS and Stable required
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrated commitment to a safe environment for staff, patients and families by working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related Hospital policies
