MANAGER, CHRONIC DISEASE
(TEMPORARY FULL-TIME ONE YEAR)
Reporting to the Director, Health Promotion the incumbent will plan, implement and evaluate programs and services to meet the Ontario Public Health Standards in the areas of prevention of substance abuse, and tobacco-free living with a focus on a school youth population. You will provide program leadership, co-ordination and collaboration internally and externally with respect to tobacco control and the reduction of tobacco use and other highly correlated risk factors as they relate to chronic diseases. You will be responsible for supervising a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and Youth Engagement Program volunteers. A key responsibility will be working with community agencies to provide the public with opportunities and information to facilitate the prevention of chronic diseases, for example, through the use of community-wide education campaigns, community mass media, and to provide consultation in policy development.
Qualifications and experience: Master’s in a specialty relevant to the job description which includes preparation in public health; experience with evidence-based research for public health interventions; over five years of experience in health care and/or public health with progressive leadership and management responsibilities; has proven their ability to work effectively within a unionized multi-disciplinary team setting.
