Company Information

Brucelea Haven is a Long Term Care Home that is owned by the Corporation of the County of Bruce.  As a municipal home, it is operated as a Not for Profit business and we are part of the Long Term Care Homes Department within the Corporation.  We work with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the South Western Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) and are obligated to provide care according to standards that are outlined within “The Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007”.

We strive to provide the necessary levels of care, which allow residents to maintain their dignity and respect, and to help them meet their spiritual, physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs regardless of age, race, or religion.

The current facility was built in 2003 and has many wonderful features that contribute to the health and well being of our residents. The unique “L” shaped building allows each resident to have a view from their room whether it is a view of our beautiful park or of the surrounding neighborhood.

Brucelea Haven has been providing compassionate and skilled care for seniors in our community since 1898. The first Brucelea Haven, better known as the “House of Refuge” est. 1898, is pictured below.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Director of Care for provision, implementation and supervision of resident care to ensure quality of life for each individual resident. Delivers care, which is individualized and resident-focused. Required to assist with the planning and development of the resident care plan, which support the effective and efficient management of the nursing department. The Registered Nurse is expected to work in conjunction with all other departments in terms of care delivery.




Educational Requirements:

 1. Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

 2. Basic computer skills and current CPR certified.

 3. Bachelor’s degree in nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

 4. PIECES and or CAPCE / palliative level two preferred


 1. Three to five years experience as a registered nurse, preferably with experience in a long term care setting.

 2. Experience supervising other employees.

 3. Experience with documentation relative to MDS RAI and the use of PCC.

 4. Skilled in terms of the nursing process in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
