Job Description

Job: Director of Resident Care

Job Ref. No.: 16/MK/005

Status: Full Time (Temporary for 1 year)


Core Function:

In consultation with the Executive Director, plans and develops a high quality nursing care service that complies with relevant government legislations, policies and standards, and reflects the organization's vision, strategic direction and resident centred approach.



-Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelor's degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

-Current CPR Certificate

-Minimum 5 years nursing experience, including 1 year experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Nursing

-A minimum of 3 years experience as an RN in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, preferably in long term care and in an unionized environment

-A leadership and management style that is innovative, energetic, honest, participatory, empowering and enabling, as well as a talent for team building

-Strong conflict resolution skills

-Computer literacy required

-Previous experience working with budgets

-Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

-Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; fluency in Chinese an asset


Working Condition:



-Occasional travel
